Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in November. Below are some Core Meanings and Traditions:
Gratitude: At its heart, the holiday is a time to pause, reflect, and give thanks for family, health, and life's provisions
The Feast: The centerpiece of the day is a large shared meal. Traditional foods include roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.
Community and Charity: Many Americans volunteer at food pantries or donate meals to people in need.
Entertainment: Watching American football games and large holiday parades-such as the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade-are widespread national traditions.

Meal of Gratitude
This year, we are once again preparing for approximately 200 guests and we will need volunteers, partners and sponsors to help with event setup, greeting and assisting families, organizing Thanksgiving bags and giveaways, helping throughout the event, and cleanup. The event date is Saturday, November 21st timing of 1pm-4pm at the North Community YMCA in North Minneapolis.
Whether you’re able to volunteer for the entire event or just part of the day, we would love to have you back.

Community Spotlight
David is the founder of Cause & Effect, a product of the inner-streets. Being awarded to the state at an early age, exposed to family alcoholism, physical abuse, and neglect, he turned to the street for refuge at the age of 13. In a short amount of time, he moved into a ranking and authoritative position which led to his entanglement in a life of destruction, self-defeating habits, and unwarranted hardships.
Did you know that he has been able to help others break free of a lifestyle perpetually entangled in the Criminal Justice System. He has gained respect and a strong connection with his neighborhood and surrounding community while maintaining his sobriety, integrity, and positive outlook on the possibilities that lie ahead.
Captain David Carson dedicates his life to breaking cycles from incarceration to integrity, from addiction to fire service. The Cause & Effect movement exists to walk alongside those trapped in the justice loop, offering mentorship, accountability, and hope.
"No matter the path of destruction behind you, integrity is the foundation upon which your new life is built. Sobriety isn't just a choice; it's the clarity needed to lead others."
